How Many Needles are Used in Acupuncture?

We hear a lot of questions about needles at Common Ground Wellness Louisville Acupuncture Clinic.  People are often curious about how many needles are used in acupuncture treatment? At our practice, we try to use as few needles as possible to create the desired effect.

During a Typical Treatment, How Many Needles Are Used in Acupuncture?

Depending on the number of complaints and the severity, how many needles are used in acupuncture is going to vary.  Clients that seek treatment for only one complaint may have 6-10 needles used.  If you have multiple complaints that are long-standing you may need upwards of 20 needles during acupuncture.  However, it is important to remember that acupuncture needles are smaller than any needle you have ever been poked with.  Therefore, no matter how many needles are used in acupuncture treatment for your ailments, the sensation will be nothing like receiving a shot from a doctor or getting a piercing.  Acupuncture treatment is often pleasant and relaxing for most patients.
